Alera Group is seeking a Managing Director - West Region Based in
California to join their team.
Alera Group is an independent, national insurance and financial
services firm created in 2016 through a merger of 24 like-minded,
high-performing, entrepreneurial firms. Our founding firms worked

and resources to elevate the client experience.
The Managing Director (MD) provides offices within the region
support and direction (i.e., sales, operations, finance, etc.) to
ensure they meet/exceed their short/long-term goals. The MD has
accountability for the region's overall revenue growth,
profitability, talent management, and colleague engagement that is
consistent with Alera Group initiatives and goals.
The MD will be accountable for leading the Managing Partners (MP)
within the region and a team of direct and dotted line reports that
includes VP Sales Development; Director, Finance/Ops; Director, EB
Operations; Director, P&C Operations; and Manager, M&A.
Duties and Responsibilities :
Identify and execute on opportunities within the region to
collaborate between offices on sales and operations.
Drive change through region with thoughtful and effective
Foster connections by connecting people who can help each other
solve problems and create opportunities for our clients and each
Manage workflows and adopt operational models that increase
efficiency within offices and the region.
Manage Alera Group priorities and help facilitate at the office
Support and deploy Alera shared services including Practice Leader
initiatives, Finance/Accounting, Technology (systems, applications,
data), Human Resources, Legal, and Marketing.
Prospect acquisition targets in conjunction with the M&A
Along with Regional staff, fully responsible for the post close
integration of newly acquired offices within the region.
Lead MP roundtable discussions and partner with other MDs to share
ideas, improve consistency of services, offerings, and plan for
Conduit to organize regional work groups.
Share Alera communications and resources to region.
Developing and Building a Team
Region Coaches MPs giving them guidance and feedback to maximize
performance. Supports them in the development of their team's
capabilities and delivering their objectives. Improves succession
strategy by recognizing and developing key contributors and by
networking and recruiting effectively to fill the talent pipeline.
Seeks diverse opinions and consults with others. Conducts
meaningful and collaborative office level reviews of their revenue,
operational, and financial results against benchmark comparisons
recognizing excellent performance as well as problem solving and
correcting lower performance.
MD Staff Only Makes effective use of delegation to develop and
empower regional staff. Conducts ongoing, meaningful, and
collaborative performance reviews to appropriately recognize and
reward staff for excellent performance as well as manage out poor
Innovation Be willing to take risks and to consider new and
untested approaches. Look at issues from a fresh viewpoint; can
look at old methods in new, creative ways; adapts to change, take
risks, and explores the unknown.
Achieving Results Emphasizes office, regional, and Alera Group
results by working closely with MPs on short, mid-range, and
strategies related to the region and its offices budget and key
accountabilities. Flexible and capable of adapting to new goals
through concrete, practical problem solving, and working side by
side with others.
Candidates will be required to have a bachelors degree in business
or related disciplines such as finance, marketing, operations,
accounting, or related degree. A graduate degree or MBA is not
required but would be helpful. Professional certifications within
the employee benefit, property and casualty, wealth management,
and/or human resources field would be important. Proficient in MS
Office Suite, with strong Excel skills.
