environment!Job DescriptionAs a Camp and Family Engagement
Specialist, you'll play a vital role in creating a positive camp
experience for campers, their families and our Summer Staff. As a
member of the Camp Leadership team, you will support camper
behavior management and parent communication- coaching campers,
intervening to mediate conflict, and partnering with parents so all
campers can find success in our program. YOU WILL

experience in all aspects of your work
- Balance fun with safety and operational excellence
- Coach staff to connect with students across diverse age groups,
ability levels and support needs.
- Promote a positive camp experience at all times with your
energy and camp spirit.
- Actively participate in camp chants, songs, and perform skits
in opening and closing ceremonies.
- Ensure equitable and student-centered approaches to behavior
management and camper conflict.
- Be the primary point of contact for camper behavior challenges
and parent outreach, resolving escalated matters, which may be
beyond the expertise of an entry-level staff member.
- Support the CD in managing and coaching staff on restorative
camper behavior management strategies and conflict resolution
approaches
- Coach staff on best practices for professional communication
and behavior management
- Lead the team by example to provide exemplary customer service
to each camper, family, and guardian at all times.
- Assist in managing camp rotations and provide support as
needed.
- Be ready to wear many hats, and enter each situation with
finesse and determination.
- Provide coverage, stepping in to fill staff duties when team
members are out.
- Lead camper groups and/or facilitate Galileo curriculum as
needed.
- Regularly assess to ensure Galileo curriculum is facilitated as
designed and provide timely feedback to staff.
- Maintain safe environments for all campers and provide
leadership and camp spirit to all campers.
- Constantly assess engagement and group dynamics, as well as the
needs of individual campers. PAY & PERKS
- Your exact pay will be determined based on a variety of
factors, including work-site location and tenure:
- Pay for this position is $21.00 to $21.74 per hour for new
(first-year); determined based on work-site location
- Pay for returning (alumni) pay ranges from $21.25 to $23.25 per
hour; determined based on work-site location, position, and years
of employment with Galileo Camps.

inspiring changemakers! SCHEDULE All camps operate Monday - Friday.
In the three weeks leading up to the start of camp, Camp and Family
Engagement Specialist will complete 5-8 hours of pre-season
training; 2 days of weekend availability may be required for camp
set-up days. Shifts vary by position and location and can start as
early as 7:00am and end as late as 6:00pm.Camp set-up dates, start
dates and duration vary by location - find your location on our
page to view site-specific dates.Qualifications
- College coursework or equivalent work experience in K-8
education, Social Work, Counseling, Child Development, ABA Therapy,
Behavioral Intervention, and similar fields
- 2+ years of work experience in K-8 education, ideally as a
teacher or in a student support role
- Bilingual in English and Spanish preferred
- Experience caring for, supervising, coaching, and/or mentoring
children, individually and in groups
- Availability to consistently work [Full-Time / Part-Time]
hours, Monday - Friday, for the duration of camp.
- For consistency and camper safety, we prioritize applicants who
are able to commit to working for the full duration of camp (4-8
continuous weeks, depending on the camp location).
- Applicants with less than 4 continuous weeks of availability
will not be considered for this role.
- Ability to balance multiple tasks while working with a sense of
urgency and enthusiasm.
- Ability to complete all pre-camp tasks, including background
checks, state-mandated certifications, electronic onboarding
paperwork and online training prior to the start of camp.
- Valid CPR/First Aid certification OR ability to become
certified prior to the start of camp
